Welcome to The Canada Warbler

This perky warbler visited for a couple of days.  I was very happy to see him and photograph his visit to our yard.The Canada Warbler's beak is dark gray and wide at the base. This Warbler always has a necklace. The necklace is variable in the extent and darkness of it. The fall birds are often bright in color. He has pink legs and a long tail. This bird often cocks tail and droops wings. This was a first visit to our yard. I first saw him after lunch one day and then back briefly the next day. He did not stay long. His visits to the water were brief. The Baltimore Orioles were visiting that same day. The Orioles stayed for a week or more. They love the oranges and the Hummingbird nectar. Blessings!

Fall Yellow Warbler came for a visit!

I have not enjoyed the outdoors in Texas since May.  The heat and humidity have made their usual visit.  Rain has not been abundant in our area and I am so looking forward to fall.  Yesterday, I am not sure why, I ventured out to the back porch. The fan and a breeze made the heat more tolerable.  I know birds are migrating, Hummingbirds are plentiful and many summer birds have left our yard. The Black and White Warbler has not been seen for a couple of weeks. The Blue-gray Gnatcatcher

 has not been seen flitting branch to branch of our trees. We have an abundance of Titmouse and Cardinals as well as Blue Jays and Carolina Chickadees. God blessed me by sending a beautiful Yellow Warbler to visit our water feature.  It was amazing (not really) how quickly my hands and eyes went to my camera. He stayed several minutes as I intently watched and photographed him. I certainly was not expecting such a wonderful surprise on this Labor Day weekend. My eyes will be more vigilant in the coming weeks as fall approaches. Watch your Yard!!! Blessings!

Early Morning Light!

I have explained in other posts about my early morning porch sitting.  I am sure you will not be surprised by the fact that this post is about two cute rabbits frolicking in the early light of day. I happened to have the camera set up and ready to go,another fact that I have also shared before. You have to be ready or you will surely miss some of the most precious sights on this earth. They did a face off and then began running, jumping, separating and then back again. You could see their sheer joy in the fun! I realized why I had always found "bunnies" so adorable.  They make me smile with their adorable twitching whiskers and white fluffy tale. Blessings!

 

Stealthy Visitor to the Water at Pedernales State Park

 I spent some time at the Bird Blind in Pedernales State Park this past week.  I had visited with the volunteer who feeds the birds and takes care of the maintenance of the bird blind. I have loved this Park and bird blind for years.  There are actually two bird viewing areas now, as well as a beautiful butterfly garden.  I am never disappointed when I visit this area and photograph as well as observe the wildlife. Several other photographers were also enjoying the blind.  One late afternoon this week I was blessed to photograph this beautiful Gray Fox.  He came in from the back corner of the blind, made his way down from the wood pile and moved straight for the water.  The temperature is especially hot for June in Texas.  I was told by the Volunteer that this little guy would at times finish off any sunflower seeds left from the morning feeding. When I returned to my daughter's house, another Gray Fox was near their pool. This was the first time I had been so close to this animal.  I will never forget the way he looked straight into my camera,watching my every move. If you are in the area and you want to see the beauty of this part of Texas, Pedernales is a must! Blessings!

 I enjoyed editing my photos of the wildflowers and the old school at Sandy,Texas. This small stretch of Texas highway was especially beautiful on this day.  I am reminded that we travel many roads in this life.  I have found that each is unique unto itself.  The twists,turns,stops,starts long and short will contribute to the person we are.  God has shown me the simple beauty of life that is to be seen anywhere we are willing to open our eyes and heart to see. I can honestly say that each creation of God has beauty within. Sandy was one of those sights to treasure. I hope you enjoy! Blessings.
