Birds Encountered in Northern Arizona

We are enjoying northern Arizona at this time.  This week we have spent time in the cities of Williams, Flagstaff, Parks, and Sedona.  We have enjoyed traveling off the main roads in our jeep.  The unpaved roads offer a different view and allow us to see more back country as well as wildlife. We have seen Elk, Mule Deer, and many birds during our stay.  We have primarily been in the Kai

bab and Coconino National Forests.  We spent time today in Red Rock State Park near Sedona.  This park offers great birding and beautiful diverse landscape.  The birds we have seen this week are Black Phoebe, Say's Phoebe, Gila Woodpecker, Red-naped Sapsucker, Steller's Jay, Dark-eyed Juncos of different groups, Western Scrub-Jay, Pygmy Nuthatch, White-breasted Nuthatch, Mountain Chickadee, Mountain Bluebird, Western Bluebird, Raven, American Crow, Red-tailed Hawk, House Finch, Lesser Goldfinch, White-crowned Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Canadian Geese, Ring-necked Ducks, Bridled Titmouse, Townsend's Solitare, Spotted Towhee,  American Robin, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Mourning Dove, N. Cardinal and Anna's Hummingbird. We still have a couple of days to add to the list.  We have spent two days in Sedona. This city is in the northern Verde Valley region of Arizona. The red sandstone formations are breathtaking! "Wow"was the word I kept repeating as we encountered the beauty. Our visit has been amazing and we are looking forward to the days left in our stay. I highly recommend that you visit this area if you have the opportunity.  Blessings!
