Nesting Carolina Wren

Another year has come and gone. Our little Carolina Wren is nesting just as she did last year and has found a new nesting site on our back porch. She nested in a box on  the back porch last spring.  This year she chose a bird house on the same back porch.  A picture will explain all of your questions.  We have enjoyed her search for the site, nesting grasses deposited in several different places until she settled on the bird box. We watched as the pair carried nesting material until Mom Wren was happy with the finished nest.  We then watched as she sat in the box barely leaving after the eggs were laid.  The male would bring food to her.  We are now watching as the babies have grown feathers and Mom is feeding less frantically. The babies sleep most of the time just as our newborns would . Nature is so interesting, God's handiwork never ceases to amaze me. We are eagerly awaiting and hoping we will be blessed to see the new Wrens fledge their nest and join their parents in the yard. I noticed today, April 3,2012, baby birds are leaning out of the nest, mouths wide open for food. I believe they will be looking for food on their own very soon! Today is April 6, The two young wrens flew out of the nesting box. My husband caught sight of them as they flew. We have so enjoyed the last couple of weeks watching as the eggs were laid, the babies fed, the discarding of a hatchling that must have been defective, housekeeping between the young birds and the parent, and finally 2 beautiful wrens.
