Northern Flicker
The Northern Flicker has been spending mornings feeding in the front yard. I have on several occasions tried to snap a few photos of him. Today was my lucky day! He seemed to be more concerned about his foraging than my camera lens. He is known as the most common Woodpecker. I am not sure if I have just never noticed or if it is just the first time he has spent time in my yard. I now know to be on the lookout for him. He is really quite striking with his beautiful markings. I read that he searches for ants in the yard. He is welcome to all the ants in my yard.
