New Year's Day 2011

We spent another great weekend in the woods of East Texas. Weather was much too warm the first day. Friday brought cooler dry air to the area. Our birds of the weekend were Brown Creeper,Golden-crowned Kinglet.Ruby-crowned Kinglet,Eastern Phoebe,Eastern Bluebird,Blue Jay, Hermit Thrush,Pine Warbler,Yellow-rumped Warbler,Pine Siskin, American Goldfinch,Northern Cardinal,Tufted Titmouse,Carolina Chickadee,Downy Woodpecker,Pileated Woodpecker,Great Blue Heron,Carolina Wren and American Crow. The crowning birding moment was spotting a Bald Eagle nest. Jim and I were so excited we could barely stand still to watch. The Eagles flew over our heads several times during our days here. Each time we witnessed a fly over was a true joy for both of us. Today is our last day, hopefully,we will see their great beauty again!
