New York

I wanted to share this beautiful day! We were in upstate New York, Lake Placid area. We loved this part of the state.  This particular day was a gorgeous drive up Whiteface Mountain.  We stopped at the gate and were told it was foggy at the summit. We decided to drive up and see whatever we could, weather permitting.  Words are difficult to find describing the breathtaking views and beauty we were blessed to see. The winter skiing must truly be amazing! The views from the summit changed depending on the clouds, fog or clearing sky. I had never experienced actually being at cloud level. I hope you enjoy the drive. If you are in the area do not miss this trip!

The yard is busy with many hungry birds. We are enjoying all the hustle and bustle over the peanut butter suet. The Mockingbird, Blue Jay, American Crow and Northern Cardinal have joined the smaller birds in pursuit of it. I can fill all the places for it and within an hour the suet has totally disappeared. The little Orange-crowned Warbler is usually setting close by watching as I put the suet out. He is on it before I get to the back door.

Birds of the Day!

Whooping Cranes

Last January was on my mind today. We had spent several days at Goose Island State Park.  We wanted to see the "Whoopers".  We were driving to the spot where we had been told that you could "maybe" view these magnificent birds. I believe it was the second day when the family in my photos walked within 50 yards of our car. They were not interested in us and I was thrilled to photograph them. I pray that these birds will continue to multiply and find food source to support them. I hope you enjoy!
