Wilflowers and Swallowtail Butterfly

Spring flowers more beautiful than any words I could share. Texas has so very many varieties. The beautiful Bluebonnets, Coreopsis,Indian Blanket,Mexican Hat,Black-eyed Susan,TexasGroundsel(Ragwort), which I had photos of in the last post. It would be difficult to say which is more beautiful. I love the field with the many mixtures of color. The beautiful white Cherokee Rose has five white petals forming a blossom that opens nearly flat. It shows beautifully with any of the colors. The female Tiger Swallowtail was slow moving and allowed me to photograph her. The females can be yellow or black in color. The males are always yellow. We have enjoyed wonderful spring rains and our wildflowers are gorgeous. I hope you get an opportunity to enjoy their beauty!

East Texas Spring

Spring East Texas

Our yard is already buzzing with activity. Butterflies are on flowers. The birds are looking for nesting sites or are building their nests. The Dogwood trees are budding and in fact we have one here in East Texas already bloomed out. The Redbud trees are blooming and we are enjoying seeing their beautiful color. The Plum, Pear, Sassafras Trees and many wildflowers are majestic in this part of the country. I fully expect my Bluebonnets to be in full bloom next week. This is our last full week in the country. We have sold this property and have  spent the last couple of weeks enjoying the natural beauty here as well as working hard to get ready for the move. I will share some of this week's photos with you. The Carolina Chickadee, Eastern Phoebe, and Eastern Bluebird have been working diligently on nesting sites. I have enjoyed watching the busy intense way they work and seek a site for their nest. The squirrel sits in the tall grass eating. We believe he thinks we can not see him for he sits for long periods of time unafraid of anything. I am working on the name of the yellow wildflowers. If one of you know the identity, please let me know.
